The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at the University of Minnesota is seeking an experienced software engineer for a temporary, flexible, hourly position. The role will support the development and maintenance of GPU-native hypersonic computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and related scientific computing tools. The successful candidate will contribute to software development, scientific computing algorithms, GPU programming, testing, build systems, and user support. Candidates will be evaluated based on their demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience. Key Responsibilities GPU solver development (85%): Support development of the GPU-native hypersonic flow solver and associated software tools. Lead development of the graphical user interface and Python API. Develop communication interfaces between in-house CFD and mesh-generation software. Create unit and regression tests. Maintain the GitHub repository and continuous integration processes. Assist with development of the SABRE mesh-generation software as needed. Build and installation processes (15%): Create CMake files and develop portable build and installation processes for different computing architectures.
