The system includes solar PV, wind generation, battery energy storage and grid connection. MATLAB/Simulink is used to model the system and evaluate battery operation, SOC, grid import/export and peak demand reduction. I already have a supervisory battery controller that uses net load and SOC to decide whether the battery should charge, discharge or remain in standby. The next requirement from my supervisor is to reproduce and integrate a PI or PID controller from a published reference, preferably for lower level converter/inverter control such as DC link voltage or grid current regulation. The aim is to keep the existing battery energy management controller while adding a properly referenced PI/PID control layer that can be simulated, explained and validated in MATLAB/Simulink.
